Applied Research Initiative (ARI) ARI Grants Management: University accounts for ARI funds will be set up once the external matching funds have been secured through a sponsored agreement or other means. If the external funds are not forthcoming (as is sometimes the case) the ARI funding will be de-obligated to the general ARI fund. The ARI and externally funded accounts are administered by the Office of Sponsored Programs. The start and end dates for the ARI account will be the same as the start/end dates of the external account. Unexpended funds remaining in the ARI account may not be extended beyond the termination date of the external account unless a request for a no-cost extension is submitted to the Office of Sponsored Programs prior to that date. The request must include a sound justification for the extension and may be sent via e-mail if desired. Project Review: Those receiving ARI awards will be required to provide oral and written progress reports for the duration of the project. The Office of Research Services will schedule semi-annual ARI Project Review Forums to provide project personnel with the opportunity to present, in oral and written form, project updates relative to the scope of work, budget expenditures, and deliverables outlined in the original proposal. An ad hoc review committee will be convened to assist Research Services in assessing the progress of each project and making recommendations as to its successful and timely completion. |
