Stimulus Funding Opportunities
President Barack Obama recently signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Designed to stimulate the economy, the ARRA offers U.S. universities numerous opportunities to pursue billions of dollars in one-time funding for projects in a variety of areas, including research and infrastructure in the sciences, engineering, education, health, and the arts.
Faculty in all disciplines are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. Although several specific areas have been identified in the ARRA, multidisciplinary competitive proposals involving faculty from all areas on campus may be submitted.
UNLV's Division of Research and Graduate Studies provides this website as a source of information on these opportunities. Not all of the funding opportunities are clearly defined at this point, as the process is just beginning. The major federal agencies involved – NIH, NSF, NASA, NOAA, NEA, USDA, EPA, DOE, among others – will be defining the opportunities more specifically in the weeks and months to come.
