Stimulus Funding Opportunities

UNLV Website Provides Info on Award Solicitations

President Barack Obama recently signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Designed to stimulate the economy, the ARRA offers U.S. universities numerous opportunities to pursue billions of dollars in one-time funding for projects in a variety of areas, including research and infrastructure in the sciences, engineering, education, health, and the arts.

"We are encouraging faculty in all disciplines to take advantage of these opportunities," said Ron Smith, vice president for research and dean of the Graduate College. "Although several specific areas have been identified in the ARRA, we would like to advance a variety of multidisciplinary competitive proposals involving faculty from all areas on campus. There are ample opportunities for collaboration on a broad range of projects."

UNLV's Division of Research and Graduate Studies has provided a website, located at http://research.unlv.edu/recovery/, as a source of information on these opportunities. Not all of the funding opportunities are clearly defined at this point, as the process is just beginning. The major federal agencies involved -- NIH, NSF, NASA, NOAA, NEA, USDA, DOE, among others -- will be defining the opportunities more specifically in the weeks and months to come.

Additional information on ARRA opportunities will be offered on this site in the future, so please check for updates. For more information, please contact UNLV's Office of Sponsored Programs at 895-1357.
