The UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park

The UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park is located on nearly 115 acres in the rapidly growing southwest region of Las Vegas, Nevada. Owned by the UNLV Research Foundation, the park is approximately 10 minutes southwest of UNLV’s main campus.

The vision for the park is to position itself as one of the premier university research parks in the country and to strengthen UNLV’s reputation as a nationally recognized research university.

The UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park is committed to supporting research growth at UNLV and to creating an intellectual business community that will provide a strong complement to the existing research, business, and high-tech base in Southern Nevada.  Companies engaging in advanced research, development, and technology in a variety of industries have the strongest potential for benefit as occupants of the park.

Park Development

The 115-acre UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park will be developed by the UNLV Research Foundation to support more than three million square feet of office and research space, as well as wet and dry laboratories. The master planned property and buildings will be designed primarily for private/public research and development facilities, high-technology and science-based companies, and support services.

The general development master plan includes these features:

  • Flexibility for market adaptation;
  • Multiple phasing opportunities;
  • Effective vehicular circulation with optimal parcel access;
  • Central core with higher density development utilizing shared resources;
  • Centralized support services and hazardous material management; and
  • Commercial, high-end landscaping and signage standards.

The planning process is underway and it is anticipated that construction will begin as early as 2008.

Location

The UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park is located in the southwest region of the Las Vegas Valley.  The park is visible and accessible directly from the I-215 Beltway at Durango and Sunset Roads.  This burgeoning area offers convenient access to UNLV’s central campus, UNLV’s Shadow Lane Campus, McCarran International Airport, the Central Las Vegas corridor, Summerlin, Green Valley, and the City of Henderson. Geographically distinctive, the Park’s backdrop views include Nevada’s Red Rock mountains to the west and the Las Vegas Strip to the east.

The Park is also located within the West Village development community.  This four square mile development area is a live-work-play community where residential, urban, mixed-use, and industrial developments will co-exist.  West Village will include major high-rise residential complexes with retail facilities, two hospitals, a major casino-resort-hotel complete with full entertainment and recreational facilities, several office towers, and the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park.

The surrounding community offers abundant and affordable housing for more than one million local residents. Desirable lifestyle choices and year-round great weather make Las Vegas a top relocation destination for single and family residents. The Las Vegas Valley boasts many fine libraries, museums, performing arts centers, golf courses, art galleries, parks, world class shopping and dining, as well as national park and recreation areas.
