The Council for Centers, Institutes, Labs, and Museums serves as an advisory body to the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies. The council is charged with developing procedures and criteria for the creation of new research units; reviewing proposals for new units and making recommendations to the Vice President for Research; and developing and overseeing a periodic review process for existing research units. The council is delegated authority to request modifications to research unit proposals to ensure adherence to approved criteria; to request annual and periodic reviews; and to make recommendations to the Vice President for Research on the continuation of existing research units. Successful proposals are forwarded by the Vice President for Research to the Provost’s Office for further review and processing through the Board of Regents. No unit with the title “center,” “institute,” “lab/laboratory,” or “museum” may be created without Board of Regents approval. For information regarding the approval process to create a new organizational unit at UNLV, select from the links below:
Proposals and letters of support, in electronic format only, should be forwarded via email to the Office of the Vice President for Research at nancy.flagg@unlv.edu.
