More than 250 attend NSF Day at UNLV

A National Science Foundation Day workshop held Feb. 8 was attended by approximately 250 researchers, students, and administrators from UNLV and other universities and agencies across the Southwest.  The purpose of the event was to provide UNLV faculty with tips on writing successful NSF proposals and to allow them to meet personally with program directors from each NSF division.

Presenters discussed NSF funding opportunities, offered suggestions for success, and gave an overview of the grant proposal and merit review process.  Special sessions were provided for researchers in several disciplines, including biological sciences; engineering; geosciences; education; computer science; social, behavioral, and economic sciences; interdisciplinary programs; math and physical sciences; international programs; and Nevada EPSCoR.  To obtain electronic copies of NSF materials from the event or for additional information, contact Nancy Flagg, Special Assistant to the Vice President for Research.
